About

Initially SCULPTURE AT Bermondsey Square was conceived through a series of six-month publicly funded commissions begun in 2014 in collaboration with artist Karen Tang, ensuring the project’s development would be artist-led and share VITRINE’s focus on artistic experimentation.

We wanted to widen the opportunities for artists who had no previous experience in the public realm to create outdoor sculpture, at a time when there were few other temporary outdoor sculpture commissioning platforms in London, and to develop a broader dialogue around this artistic practice.

The vision was always to evolve SCULPTURE AT independently and with more fluidity around location, so a move to Basel and a new Directorial collaboration and Board is an exciting next stage.
